★★★★★ | Often the best children's book are those relating the familiar in a simple and repetitive way. That is why in my opinion, The Giving Snowman will potentially become a classic. A beautiful story, lovingly illustrated to enhance the words, it shares the message of giving and gratitude. One of my greatest joys in snowy weather was building a snowman with my children. Snowman in this story, is well suited for the winter weather but those he meets are less able to cope with the freezing cold evenings. What little Snowman has he shares without thought of his own needs to ease the problems others are facing. Thereafter when they meet up again they are able to show their appreciation and repay him in their own way. I am grateful to the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced reader's copy. This is ultimately a book I would like to own and read to my grandchild and wait on the first snow of winter.

★★★★★ | A wonderful tale about compassion and sharing. My children and I really enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations. We had an excellent talk about why sharing is caring and to look out for those in need. I look forward to reading it again and will be recommending this story to friends!

★★★★★ | Think of this Wonderful Story as Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince Crossed over with Raymond Briggs's The Snowman only 10 Times More Heart-Warming. A Special Thanks to Net Gallery for this Book.

Another snowman story centered around kindness and gratitude is The Giving Snowman by Julia Zheng. Instead of children helping the melted snowman, it's a group of woodland creatures. I love to discuss ways this story represented kindness and giving. It's a great story to read before an activity where students share what they are grateful for either starting or ending the calendar year.
CHALK & APPLES
(A perfect Christmas gift for children ages 3-8)
On a snowy night, Snowman lends a helping hand to Bird, Rabbit, Farmer, and Traveler when they are in need. The next day when the sun comes out and melts Snowman, Bird, Rabbit, Farmer, and Traveler work together as a team to rebuild Snowman.
The Giving Snowman is a book about kindness and gratitude. Children can learn through the story that giving to others is a virtue that connects all of us and makes our lives more beautiful.
